❓ How MapIt Works

  • 🗺 Browse: listings near you appear as pins on the map and cards in the list (on a phone, switch with ☰ List / 🗺 Map). Tap one to see details. Pick a category with the icons at the top of the list
  • 🔍 Search: type a word in the search box under the category icons — it filters the listings in the part of the map on screen
  • 🎯 Distance: tap Within 5 km ▾ in the top bar to look closer or further
  • 🌍 Explore another area: tap 🗺 Explore in the top bar and search any place; tap 📍 My location to come back
  • ➕ Post: tap Post a Listing in the top bar. You'll first verify your phone with a WhatsApp code; each listing is checked by our team before it goes live
  • ❤ Save: tap ♡ on a listing to save it — find it later in the Saved tab
  • 🤝 Contact a seller: open a listing and tap I'm Interested to send them a note
  • 💬 Chat: once a seller replies, tap 💬 Chat with seller on the listing, or open 📥 Inbox from your avatar menu
  • 📍 Nearby places: open any listing to see nearby schools, malls, and supermarkets in the "📍 Nearby" section
  • 🛡 Stay safe: keep chatting in MapIt and never share an OTP or pay in advance — read the safety tips
  • 🚩 Report a listing: something looks wrong or suspicious? Open the listing and tap 🚩 to flag it for review
  • 📋 Your listings: open the My Listings tab to edit, mark as sold, or delete
  • 📍 Change your location: use My Locations in the avatar menu, or pick a saved one from 📍 My location ▾
  • 👤 Your profile: View Profile in the avatar menu shows your details and lets you verify your phone
  • ⭐ Feedback: tap 💡 Share Feedback at the bottom of the list to rate MapIt and tell us what's working or what needs fixing

🛡 Stay safe when buying & selling

Everyone

  • Keep chatting in MapIt. Your phone number stays private. Be careful if someone pushes you to WhatsApp, Telegram or a call straight away
  • Never share an OTP, UPI PIN or card details. No buyer, seller or MapIt team member ever needs them
  • You never need a UPI PIN or a QR scan to receive money. If someone asks you to scan or enter a PIN "to get paid", it is a scam
  • Meet in a public place, in daylight — a mall, a busy café, outside a police station. Take a friend or family member along, and tell someone where you are going
  • Too good to be true? Very low prices, "urgent" pressure, or a story about being transferred (often "army / defence officer") are common scam signs
  • Don't share Aadhaar, PAN or bank documents in chat

Buyers

  • See it before you pay. Never pay an advance, "token amount", courier or gate-pass fee for an item you haven't seen
  • Vehicles: check the RC, insurance and that the chassis/engine numbers match; verify the registration on the official mParivahan / VAHAN service
  • Property: visit in person, meet the owner, and verify ownership documents (sale deed, khata, encumbrance certificate) before paying anything. For big amounts, use a lawyer
  • Pay safely: pay only when you collect the item, and keep a written receipt

Sellers

  • Hand over the item only after the money is in your bank account — check your bank app, not an SMS or a payment screenshot (both are easy to fake)
  • Refuse "overpayments" where the buyer sends extra and asks you to return the difference
  • Test drives / visits: go along, keep the keys, and check the buyer's ID first
